Rubezh to build poultry complex in Russia's Novgorod

Rubezh, a meat company in St. Petersburg, plans to build a poultry complex in Russia's Novgorod region.

The company plans to build a poultry farm with annual capacity of 3.75 million heads, and an incubator with annual capacity of 54 million eggs. The facilities are reportedly to be located near the villages of Voroneyka and Sutoki. Timeframes and investment for the project have yet to be disclosed.

Last year, the company, focused on selling, producing and transporting meat, upgraded several of its poultry farms located in the Pskov and Novgorod regions.

Rubezh CEO Vasily Veryuzhsky expected the firm's poultry output to total 36,000 tonnes in 2009 and to rise to 100,000 tonnes per year within five years.
