US cumulative meat production down 0.5 percent year-on-year
US cumulative meat production from January to early August this year registered 26.4 billion pounds, down 0.5 percent year-on-year.
Cumulative cattle slaughter was down three percent year-on-year at 18.889 million head, while cumulative beef production fell 1.2 percent to register 14.28 billion pounds.
Meanwhile, cumulative calf slaughter was down 11.5 percent at 446,000 head, while cumulative veal production fell 8.7 percent at 90.8 million pounds.
Cumulative hog slaughter slipped 0.5 percent at 59.499 million head, while cumulative pork production was up 0.4 percent at 11.91 billion pounds.
Regarding sheep and lamb, cumulative slaughter was down 5.3 percent at 1.506 million head, while cumulative lamb and mutton production was down 3.3 percent at 106.9 million pounds.
