Illinois Valley Meats issues clarification on meat recall

Valley Meats LLC of Coal Valley, Ill. has clarified that it is not the company currently involved in a large ground beef recall.

Valley Meat Co., in Modesto, Calif., last week issued a recall notice for one million pounds of ground beef products. Despite the similarities in their names, Illinois-based Valley Meats is not related to the Modesto company.

Valley Meats LLC company officials have asked that the record be clear that their operation is not facing a USDA recall. In fact, the company said, it recently employed the test-and-hold system for finished ground beef verification sampling and a high-tech disinfectant system for its fresh raw materials used to produce ground beef products.
