Wheat Exports Australia renews accreditation for four exporters

Regulator Wheat Exports Australia (WEA) Tuesday announced it has renewed accreditation for four bulk wheat exporters through Sept. 30, 2012.

The companies that have had their accreditation to export bulk wheat renewed are Cargill Australia Ltd., Elders Toepfer Grain Pty Ltd. - a joint venture between Elders Ltd. and Toepfer International - Emerald Group Australia Pty Ltd. and Noble Resources Australia Pty Ltd., WEA said in a statement.

An exporter must fulfill a number of criteria for WEA to consider it a "fit and proper" company to continue exporting Australia's bulk wheat, WEA Chief Executive Peter Woods said in the statement.

These criteria include the exporter's financial resources, business records, risk management arrangements as well as trustworthiness and candor, he said.

WEA received 22 renewal applications; it will continue to process the remaining 18 and make further announcements in September, he said.

Accredited exporters that provide grain port terminal service in Australia can't be renewed until an undertaking regarding access arrangements for other exporters is accepted by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), he said.

In the 10 months ended July 31, Australian bulk wheat exports totalled almost 10 million tonnes to 41 countries by 17 accredited exporters, he said.
