Peru's poultry exports seen to reach US$12 million

Peru's poultry exports are expected to reach US$12.2 million this year, down 0.6 percent on-year due to a 18.6-percent decline in live animal sales.

Despite so, poultry meat exports, which represented 70 percent of poultry exports, are expected to increase 10 percent, according to Maximixe consulting firm.

Maximixe expects exports to reach US$12.8 million in 2010.

In 2008, Peruvian poultry exports amounted to US$12.3 million, up 60.6 percent when compared to 2007. Sales of poultry meat increased 103.4 percent.
