India's 2006 soybean acreage marginally higher at 7.7 million hectares

 

 

India's soybean acreage this year is estimated at 7.7 million hectares, marginally higher than 7.6 million hectares in 2005, the Soybean Processors Association of India, or SOPA, said Thursday (Aug 10).

 

The estimate is based on an assessment conducted in the first week of August.

 

The acreage is 95 percent of the target set at 8.1 million hectares, SOPA said in a statement.
