China's 2004 Soybean Output Forecast to Hit 17.5 Million MT

 

According to projections by an agency affiliated to China's Ministry of Agriculture, China's soybean acreage in 2004 would reach 148 million mu (1 mu=0.0667 hectares), registering a rise of 5.9% over 2003.

 

The agency pegged China's soybean output in 2004 at around 17.5 million metric tons, which is a record high level, conditional on normal weather conditions in the coming weeks.

 

China produced 16.4 million metric tons of soybeans in 2003.
