Ukraine exports 110,000 tonnes grain in early August
 

 

In the first eight days of August, Ukraine's grain exports totalled about 110,000 tonnes.

 

Ukraine exported a total of 840,000 tonnes of grain in July, the first month of the 2012-13 season which runs from July-June. Ukraine exported 1.47 million tonnes of grain in June, the last month of the 2011-12 season.

 

ProAgro said in a report the August volume included 49,000 tonnes of wheat and 58,500 tonnes of corn.

 

Ukrainian corn went mostly to Spain and Syria, while wheat was exported to Egypt and Spain.

 

The consultancy said an additional 630,000 tonnes of grain, including 360,000 tonnes of barley, was due to be exported in the near future.

 

The former Soviet republic plans to harvest about 45 million tonnes of grain in 2012 and has said it could export about 22 million tonnes of various grains, mostly corn.
