Kyrgyzstan agriculture ministry seeks 30,000 tonnes of grain for state reserve
Kyrgyzstan Ministry of Agriculture has proposed to the government for the grain purchase of more than 30,000 tonnes of grain purchase from the population for the state reserve, said Ministry of Agriculture Mamatsharip Turdukulov.
The government has already announced 3,000 tonnes of grain purchase for KGS10 (US$0.21) per kilo. Last year, the government has purchased 20,000 tonnes of grain from the population.
In case of price rise, the government will need to intervene and decrease prices in winter, said Turdukulov. Currently, grain costs KGS5-8 (US$0.11-US$0.17) per kilo in the market.
