China's agri imports and exports rise in H1
China's imports and exports of agricultural products amounted to US$55.2 billion from January to June, up 31.6% from the same period last year, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Exports made up US$21.94 billion, up 21.9%, and imports made up US$33.26 billion, rising 38.9%. The trade deficit in January-June amounted to US$11.31 billion.
Corn exports reached 80,000 tonnes, up 34.7% and imports came to 88,000 tonnes, 26.3 times more than the same period last year.
Wheat exports arrived at 845,000 toones, 1.1 times more than the same period last year.
China's cotton imports amounted to 1.723 million tonnes from January to June, up 120% and valued at US$2.81 billion, 1.9 times more than the same period last year.
Soy imports reached 25.802 million tonnes, up 16.8% and rapeseed imports amounted to 819,000 tonnes, down 47.6%.
Oilseed meal imports amounted to 1.138 million tonnes, up 210% and valued at US$250 million, 2.2 times higher than the same period last year. Exports arrived at 785,000 tonnes, up 2.3% and valued at US$300 million, up 9.6%.
China's aquatic products in the first half-year amounted to US$5.94 billion, up 25.3%; imports arrived at US$3.02 billion, rising 29.7%.
Livestock product exports reached US$2.12 billion, up 17.9 % on-year; imports arrived at US$4.26 billion, rising 54%; and trade deficit came to US$2.5 billion, 1.1 times higher than the same period last year.
