Karachi to cut meat and chicken prices in Ramazan
Prices of meat and chicken in Karachi, Pakistan, would be slashed by PKR20 (US$0.23) and PKR10 (US$0.12) per kg respectively in Ramazan to give relief to the masses, according to the Sindh Poultry Association and Meat Merchants Association.
However, the prices of fresh milk would remain unchanged, according to sources. The milk being supplied by the dairy farmers in the local market has 3.5% fats against the fixed standard of 6.5% fats, sources said, adding that dairy farmers were mixing milk with water and ice that poses serious threats to the consumer health.
Pakistan Flour Mills Association Sindh chapter has also assured provision of wheat flour to the people at PKR20 per kg during Ramazan. According to sources, the representatives of wholesale and retailers markets have given assurances regarding the stable prices of essential commodities during Ramazan. They have also vowed to report any hoarding activities to the authorities.
