Russia's H1 meat imports climb 8.4%
Russia's meat imports increased 8.4% on-year to 556,900 tonnes in January-June, the Federal Customs Service said Friday (Aug 6).
In monetary terms, the imports rose to US$1.772 billion in the period from US$1.676 billion a year earlier, the service said. Almost all meat was imported from countries outside the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Poultry imports fell 66% on-year to 124,900 tonnes in January-June. In monetary terms, they fell to US$183.1 million from US$397.5 million. All poultry was imported from outside the CIS.
Fish imports rose to 417,700 tonnes worth US$775.8 million from 390,800 tonnes worth US$604.7 million.
In 2009, Russia's meat imports fell 19.1% on-year to 1.31 million tonnes, the customs service said earlier.
