Chinese layer breeder Shijiazhuang ties up Hy-line International

Chinese poultry breeder Shijiazhuang Huamu Group on August 5 confirmed a new strategic alliance with US-based breeder Hy-line International, based on a 10-year term of co-operation.

Hy-line International needs little introduction to the industry. A well known producer of layer breed stock around the world, Hy-line supplies commercial layer breeds based on cross-breeding and genetics laboratory research. Its range includes breeds W-36, W-98, Hy-line variety brown, silver brown and grey. About 40 percent of the world's grandparent and parent layer stock, scattered across all the world's regions, comes from Hy-line.

In Hebei, China's biggest egg producer, about 160 million of a total 600 million layer birds in the province are products of Shijiazhuang. Of this, 80 percent are Hy-line bred stock. Shijiazhuang currently has a 23-percent share in the layer breeds market in China, and Hy-line 7 percent.

China is the without a doubt, the most important market for Hy-line, confirmed the company's CEO John Andrew Greaves, on his first business visit to China.
