Vietnam reports latest human fatality from bird flu

Vietnam's government reported that a 35-year-old man from Ben Tre province died from bird flu late last month. He had tested positive for the deadly H5N1 virus strain.

A total of 42 people have reportedly died of bird flu in Vietnam.

Recently, millions of chickens and ducks were vaccinated in the country's northern Nam Dinh province in a bid to slow the virus' spread. If the vaccination was effective, Vietnam planned to extend the programme to other provinces.
