Vietnam's Tra Vinh Province Take Measures To Prevent Bird Flu Reoccurence

Vietnam's southern province of Tra Vinh has implemented a plan to restore and re-develop the poultry stock while taking drastic measures to prevent bird flu from reoccurring.

The provincial Agricultural and Rural Development Service was assigned to cooperate with the relevant services and local authorities in managing and checking poultry raising and young fowl production and strictly monitoring the transport of poultry into and out of the province. All farms and households raising more than 50 fowls each have to disinfect their farms and provide workers with protective clothing and equipment.

The province has developed a plan on large-scale poultry farming, proposing support to farmers to move large-sized poultry farms away from residential quarters. It has prepared necessary equipment and chemicals for sterilising all farms.

Tra Vinh has a poultry flock of 4.1 million, 350,000 more than the same period last year.
