Japan clears US beef shipment
Japanese officials found no problems among the first shipment of US beef imports, a news report said Tuesday (Aug 8).
The health and agricultural ministries said there were no problems found among the 5.1 tonnes of American beef after officials inspected the meat, which arrived in Japan Monday, Kyodo News agency reported.
The shipment was the first from the US since the lifting of Tokyo's latest ban on the meat imposed over mad cow disease concerns.
