China bans meat from US pork, poultry plants

China this week banned imports of meat from three US pork plants and two poultry plants but no reason was given, according to a US Agriculture Department document.

As of August 3, China will not be accepting meat from the Smithfield Foods' pork plant at Tar Heel, North Carolina; the John Morrell & Co pork plant at Sioux City, Iowa; the Seaboard Foods pork plant at Guymon, Oklahoma; the Equity Group-KY Division poultry plant at Albany, Kentucky; and the Mountaire Farms poultry plant at Selbyville, Delaware.
