Russian to provide 2 million tonnes of grain to farmers
The Russian Agriculture Ministry plans to allocate 2 million tonnes of grain from the government intervention fund to agricultural producers suffering from the drought, Agriculture Minister Yelena Skrynnik told reporters Thursday (August 6), Prime-Tass news agency reports.
In particular, the ministry will provide grain as commodity loans for three years, Skrynnik said.
The Russian government purchased 9.6 million tonnes of grain for its intervention fund in 2008.
