Russia's Jan-Jun meat imports down 28 percent on-year
Russia's meat imports fell 27.9 percent on the year to 513,500 tonnes in January-June, the Federal Customs Service said Thursday (Aug 6).
In monetary terms, the imports fell 12.2 percent on the year to US$1.676 billion in the period, the service said.
Russia's poultry imports decreased 38 percent on the year to 362,700 tonnes in physical terms and fell to US$397.5 million from US$558 million in monetary terms in the period.
Fish imports decreased to 390,800 tonnes worth US$604.7 million, from 408,800 tonnes worth US$704.8 million, according to the service.
In 2008, Russia's meat imports rose 14.2 percent on the year to 1.619 million tonnes, the service said earlier.
