Japan resumes beef imports from Costa Rica
Japan's agriculture ministry said Thursday (Aug 6) that it has resumed beef imports from Costa Rica that were suspended in August last year.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries concluded that Costa Rican beef is safe after it conducted on-site inspections between July 19 and July 27.
The ministry suspended beef imports from Costa Rica because ox tongues processed in the US were shipped to Japan from the Central American country, a route not approved by Japan's beef import rules.
