CHS acquires DDG business

American grain firm CHS said on August 3 that it will acquire the distillers dried grain (DDG) marketing business of Minnesota-based Commodity Specialists Company (CSC). The transaction is set to become effective in the coming week.

Steve Markham and Sean Broderick, current managers of this operation for CSC, will continue to direct the activity of this unit as employees of CHS.

According to Phil Lindau, CSC co-president, the volume of ethanol industry is seen to expand rapidly in the next five years and DDG business would greatly benefit from that entity.

Rick Browne, senior vice-president, CHS Grain Marketing, said the DDG business is an addition to provide current CSC and CHS customers of both ethanol and DDG quality products.
