Brazil 2007/08 soy crop seen at 61.4 million tonnes
Brazil is expected to harvest 61.4 million tonnes of soybeans in the 2007/08 season, up 4.2 percent from last year's crop, agribusiness consultancy Celeres reported Monday (August 6).
The number is based on a 5.4 percent increase in planted area to 21.9 million hectares and yields of 2,801 kilograms of soy per hectare, Brazil's historic average over the last 15 years.
Brazil is the world's No. 2 soy producer behind the US.
