Czech 2007 grain harvest seen 6.249 million tonnes, up 8.4 percent on-year
The second estimate for the Czech Republic's total 2007 grain harvest is 6.249 million tonnes, up 8.4 percent from the 2006 harvest of 5.765 million tonnes, the Czech Statistics Office, or CSU, said Tuesday (Aug 7).
This estimate is based on data collected from domestic farmers Jul 15 and most crops are expected to be higher on-year due to the slightly larger planted area, the CSU said.
The July harvest estimate is up from the previous 2007 estimate of 6.102 million tonnes based on data collected Jun 20.
Wheat grain crop yields are expected to total 4.7 tonnes/hectare, up from 4.49 tonnes/hectare in 2006.
Rye yields are expected to be 4.02 tonnes/hectare, up on last year's 3.25 tonnes/hectare.
The estimated rapeseed crop yield is expected to total 2.87 tonnes/hectare in 2007, lower than the final rapeseed crop yield of 3.01 tonnes/hectare in 2006.
