Thong Thuan opens shrimp factory in Vietnam
 

 

 

 

Vietnam-based Thong Thuan seafood processing company inaugurated a shrimp processing plant with an annual capacity of 6,500 tonnes of shrimps in the central province of Ninh Thuan last week, reports Vietnam News.


The US$13-million plant, the second such investment from the Thong Thuan Company, will employ 2,500 workers to produce high quality shrimp products meeting requirements of customers in markets such as Japan, Germany, France and the United States.


In the first half of this year, shrimp exports generated US$1.8 billion, more than half the export value of the seafood industry, according to a report by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Shrimp exports are expected to continue rising in the second half of the year.
