China's trade of agricultural products up 12% in H1
From January to June this year, China's total imports and exports of agricultural products were valued at US$97.64 billion, an increase of 12% on-year.
Exports of agricultural goods totalled US$33.77 billion, up by 5.7%; while imports totalled US$63.87 billion, up by 15.3%. Trade deficit reached US$30.10 billion, rising by 28.5% on-year.
Of the total trade of agricultural products, grain imports soared 78.6% on-year to 9.79 million tonnes, which is valued at US$3.16 billion. Exports plunged by 55.2% to 251,000 tonnes, which valued at US$190 million.
Imports of livestock products rose 32% to US$12.32 billion, exports also increased 13.4% to US$3.41 billion. Trade deficit totalled US$8.91 billion, soaring by 40.7% on-year.
China's aquaculture product imports increased by 11.5% to US$4.59 billion, while exports edged up 2.3% to US$9.82 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of US$5.23 billion.
