Analyst firm sees 2007/08 US corn crop at 13.090 bushels


 

Private analytical firm Informa Economics estimated 2007/08 US corn production at 13.090 billion bushels, with a yield of 153.3 bushels per acre, sources said Friday (August 3).

 

The firm estimated US 2007/08 soy production at 2.700 billion bushels with a yield of 42.7 bushels per acre.

 

In the July supply and demand report, the US Department of Agriculture estimated US corn production at 12.840 billion bushels with a trend line yield of 150.3 bushels per acre. Soy production was estimated at 2.625 billion bushels and a trend line yield of 41.5 bushels per acre.

 

Informa estimated all wheat production at 2.154 billion bushels with all winter wheat production estimated at 1.558 billion bushels. Hard red winter wheat production was estimated at 963 million bushels, soft red winter wheat production at 364 million bushels and white winter wheat at 231 million bushels.

 

The firm's estimate of other spring wheat production was 519 million bushels.

 

On Aug. 10, the US Department of Agriculture is scheduled to release its US corn and soy estimates using field surveys at 8:30 a.m. EDT (1230 GMT).

 

In 2006, US corn production was 10.535 billion bushels yielding 149.1 bushels per acre, with soy production at 3.188 billion bushels and a yield of 42.7 bushels.
