McDonald's China resumes sales of beef and chicken meals

Following a scandal involving the alleged sales of expired meat, beef and chicken burgers are reported to be back on the menu at some McDonald's restaurants in China.
The restaurant operator is adding the items back on the menu in Chinese cities including Beijing and Guangzhou later this week, according to Bloomberg News. In addition, the company had not announced a date for the sales of beef and chicken burgers, nor disclose the number of cities affected by the decision.
In July 2014, regulators shut down Shanghai Husi Food Co Ltd, a unit of Illinois-based OSI, after the local broadcast of a documentary programme showed footage of meat safety violations.
McDonald's and US-based YUM immediately distanced themselves from the supplier.
China is one of nine markets which McDonald's classifies as regions that comprise 75% of the restaurant chain's total revenue.
