China's chicken exports to rise to 450,000 tonnes in 2014

China's chicken exports may increase to 450,000 tonnes in 2014, the China Animal Agriculture Association reported.

Gong Guifen, the deputy secretary-general of the association's poultry branch, said exports have reached 52 countries and regions due to high quality and low cost, with Japan buying about half of them in 2013.

China shipped 430,600 tonnes of chicken last year, up about 2% on-year.

Among the exports, cooked and prepared chicken products stood at 266,900 tonnes, accounting for 62%. Frozen chicken totalled 99,900 tonnes, taking up 23%.
