Brazilian pork exports volume down, value up
Brazil's pork exports in June and for the half-year are down in volume terms compared to the same period last year but value is up in US dollar terms.
According to ABIPECS, Brazil exported 46,952 tonnes of pork in June 2010, which is 13.0% less than the same month last year. Thanks to an increase of 30.5% in the average price in US dollars, however, the overall value of the month's sales was 13.6% higher at US$117.3 million.
Compared to the same time last year, pork exports for the year so far are down 8.4% in volume to 269,697 tonnes, while the value of those sales is up 13.4% at US$661.3 million. The average selling prices is up 23.8% at US$2,452 per tonne.
