China to establish dairy production bases
China's government has decided to build five dairy production bases in the suburbs of metropolises, north-eastern China, northern China, north-western China, and southern China.
The objective was to remove the bottleneck in domestic milk supply and guard against the entry of poor-quality foreign cows.
The dairy production base in the suburbs of big cities referred to Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai.
North-eastern China's base would cover the provinces of Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning, and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
The northern base would cover Shanxi, Hebei, Henan and Shandong provinces, while Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Shaanxi province and Ningxia autonomous region would make up the north-western base.
The southern base would cover Jiangsu, Fujian, Guangdong and Sichuan provinces.
