Argentina permits import of cattle semen from Colombia
Argentina has permitted the import of frozen Colombian cattle and bull semen into the country.
The National Health Service and Food Quality Institution, SENASA, accepted a proposal concerning the development after all animal health and export requirements were fulfilled.
The confirmation is of great significance to the market, said the CEO of Colombia's Agricultural Institute, Luis Humerto Martinez Lacouture.
He added that Brahman and Zebu breeds would mainly be exported, which have potential interest in other countries.
More steps will be taken to develop embryo exports, meant for breeding cattle, to Argentina under the requirements of the South American free trade agreement, MERCOSUR.
