India subsidises dairy sector

India subsidises animal feed concentrates and is opening exclusive cattle feed fair price shops in places where milk societies are not established.

Indian farmers are currently struggling due to the erratic monsoon and price volatility for their produce.

But farmers in other sectors are now considering changing their animal stocks into dairy cows because of the support given to dairy farming.

Dairy farmers will benefit from a 50-percent feed ingredient subsidy, which would enable them to prepare the feed personally as balanced rations.
