UK's Tesco to sell live chickens
Tesco, the largest retailer in the UK, had started selling chickens and chicken coops.
Tesco has applied for planning permission to create 30 allotments on the land next to its Southport store in Lancashire, England, according to the Daily Telegraph.
If permission is granted, the allotments will be rented out from next spring.
While the idea of consumers rearing chickens may seem too farfetched, the concept seems to be striking a chord with some customers, said Susan MacDonald, a Dobbies director.
