Jordan Confirms 50,000 MT Hard Wheat, 100,000 MT Barley Tender

Jordan's Trade and Industry Ministry said Tuesday that it was seeking 50,000 metric tons of U.S. and/or optional origin hard wheat and 100,000 tons of U.S. and/or optional origin feed barley for September and October shipment in a tender on Aug. 18.

The wheat is being sought for second half of September shipment, while the barley is for second half of September and first half of October shipment in equal cargoes, Mohnet Gosh, a senior importer at the Trade and Industry Ministry, stated.

The ministry is seeking the offers for U.S. wheat and feed barley according to the U.S.'s GSM 102 export credit program, he said.

European traders had said Monday that the shipment period for the hard wheat was Sept. 15-25 and the two shipment periods for the barley were for Aug. 20 to Oct. 5 and Oct. 5-20.

They also said the deadline for offers on the hard wheat was Aug. 11 while the deadline for the barley offers was Aug. 18.

The ministry purchased 100,000 tons of optional origin hard wheat at $173.50/ton cost and freight in its last tender in July.
