Tainted Canadian meat products found in Hong Kong
Hong Kong's Centre for Food Safety (CFS) Monday (Aug 2) advised the public not to consume 19 ready-to-eat cooked meat products from the Canadian manufacturer G. Brandt Meat Packers Ltd, which may be contaminated with Salmonella and Listeria.
The centre received notification from the Canadian authorities Monday that the manufacturer was recalling the affected products, some of which had been exported to Hong Kong. The importer, Park'N Shop, is recalling all lots of the affected products of G. Brandt Meat Packers Ltd.
The CFS has not received any notification of a food poisoning case related to the consumption of the concerned products.
The centre has alerted the trade to stop selling the products concerned and is communicating with the Canadian authorities to closely monitor the situation, the spokesman said.
