Kyrgyzstan to allow meat and milk exports to Russia
Kyrgyzstan will soon allow exports of meat and milk products to Russia as well as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
Exports of meat and milk products to those countries were banned in 2006 due to a FMD outbreak in Kyrgyzstan, said Baimbet Murataliev, general director the State Department of Veterinary Science under the farm ministry.
Kyrgyzstan has carried out risk analysis and met the leaders of those countries to discuss the situation since March 2009, he said.
Murataliev said they plan to hold meetings with experts from Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan for inspection checks, and hope that restrictions will be lifted after the meetings.
