US Monogram Food completes plant expansion, plans more growth
Monogram Food Solutions last week celebrated the completed expansion of its corn dog and breaded meat patty plant in Muncie, Indiana, but the growth likely will not stop there.
Wes Jackson, president of the Memphis-based company, said that the company aims to add additional production lines at the 35,000-square-foot plant by 2010 or 2011.
The Muncie plant currently receives hot dogs from Monogram's Chandler, Minnesota, plant and breads them before shipping the corn dogs to retailers across the country. Monogram hopes to add a hot dog line at Muncie to create efficiencies and save on freight costs.
Jackson said the company is hoping for funding and tax breaks from Muncie to help facilitate the effort. In addition to the proposed hot dog line and existing production lines, the company envisions adding more production lines for corn dogs.
Monogram bought the Muncie plant, formerly owned by Al Pete Meats, last year. At the time, it had two production lines for breaded meat patties and one corn dog line.
