Research firm pegs 2007 US corn crop at 12.644 bushels; soy, 2.681 billion

 

 

FC Stone released its August 1 US crop production estimates late Wednesday (August 1).

 

FC Stone forecast the 2007/08 corn crop at 12.644 billion bushels, with a yield of 148.0 bushels per acre. The soybean crop was estimated at 2.681 billion bushels with a yield of 42.4 bushels an acre.

 

In the July supply and demand report, the US Department of Agriculture estimated 2007 US corn production at 12.840 billion bushels with a trend line yield of 150.3 bushels per acre. Soybean production was pegged at 2.625 billion bushels and a trend line yield of 41.5 bushels per acre.

 

On August 10, the US Department of Agriculture is scheduled to release its first US corn and soybean estimates using field surveys at 8:30 a.m. EDT (1230 GMT).

 

In 2006, US corn production was 10.535 billion bushels yielding 149.1 bushels per acre, with soybean production at 3.188 billion bushels and a yield of 42.7 bushels.
