Chile reports 8.3 percent rise in salmonid harvest

 

 

Chile's salmonid harvest has risen by 8.3 percent over the same period last year.

 

The country's undersecterariat of Fisheries reported that the total salmonid harvest between January and May 2006 was 250, 200 tonnes, an 8.3 percent increase over the same period last year. This volume accounted for 75.3 percent of all finfish harvests during the period.

 

Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) harvest to May was 164,900 tonnes, 13.2 percent higher than the figure for the Jan/May period in 2005.
