Ukraine sees record 23 million tonnes grain output

Ukraine harvested 23 million tonnes of grains as of July 31, 2012.

Vinnitsa oblast produced the largest grain volumes - nearly 1.9 million tonnes, Kharkiv and Odessa oblasts also showed significant results - nearly 1.7 million tonnes and 1.5 million tonnes, respectively. The highest yield of early grains was recorded in Kiev and Khmelnytsky oblasts - at 41 centners/hectare (c/ha).

The Ministry did not change their forecasts and expect for the harvest of over 45 million tonnes of grains, said Nikolai Prysyazhnyuk, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

N.Prysyazhnyuk also noted that in the current marketing year, the total supply of grains on the market will reach the level of nearly 57 million tonnes, taking into account the carry-over stocks and the domestic consumption of 28.4 million tonnes.
