Ukraine threshed 22.7 million tonnes of grain as of end July

 

 

At end July, Ukrainian farmers harvested 94% of early crops and threshed 22.7 million tonnes of grain.

 

This was stated by Director of the Agriculture Ministry's Department for Economic Development and Agricultural Market Serhiy Kvasha at a roundtable on Tuesday (July 31).

 

According to him, in particular, wheat was harvested in the amount of 14.6 million tonnes, which is 5.4 million tonnes less than last year. The average grain yield is 24.7 centners per hectare (c/ha), whereas in the past year it was 29.7 c/ha.

 

As of July 30, a total of 3.8 million tonnes of grain is kept at certified warehouses, including 2.7 million tonnes of wheat, the agriculture ministry representative informed.

 

Earlier, the head of the department reported that the agriculture ministry estimates farmers' losses from the crop shortage due to adverse weather conditions at UAH13.6 billion (US$1.7 billion) as of July 19.
