US reports increase in corn exports
Exports of US corn during the period July 16-22, 2010 stood at 1,199,200 tonnes, up 26% from the previous week and 21% from the prior four-week average, according to the USDA data.
The primary destinations were Japan (301,000 tonnes), South Korea (214,700 tonnes), Egypt (143,600 tonnes), China (115,000 tonnes), Mexico (114,600 tonnes), and Venezuela (56,500 tonnes).
During the above period, net sales of corn in the US stood at 432,300 tonnes for delivery in 2009/10 were down 30% from the previous week and 29% from the prior four-week average.
Increases were reported for Japan (265,200 tonnes, including 112,300 tonnes switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 80,800 tonnes), Mexico (118,800 tonnes), South Korea (94,200 tonnes, including 46,000 tonnes switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 100 tonnes), Egypt (64,300 tonnes, including 60,000 tonnes switched from unknown destinations and decreases of 1,800 tonnes), Saudi Arabia (56,100 tonnes, switched from unknown destinations), Jordan (52,300 tonnes, including 51,000 tonnes switched from unknown destinations), and Taiwan (40,100 tonnes).
Decreases were reported for unknown destinations (301,800 tonnes) and Guatemala (29,600 tonnes). Net sales of 528,100 tonnes for delivery in 2010/11 were mainly for unknown destinations (209,500 tonnes), Japan (138,700 tonnes), Mexico (88,000 tonnes), and South Korea (58,000 tonnes).
