Brazil July chicken exports up 5 percent on-month at 258,700 tonnes
Brazilian chicken exports rose around 5 percent to 258,700 tonnes in July from the 245,500 tonnes shipped in June, the Foreign Trade Ministry reported Wednesday (August 1).
Daily export averages were 11,800 tonnes in July, 4.2 percent less than the 12,300 tonnes shipped daily in June.
By comparison, Brazil sold 178,200 tonnes of fresh chicken in July 2006, or 8,500 tonnes shipped daily.
Prices paid for Brazilian fresh chicken exports were US$1,430.80 per tonne compared to US$1,449.60 per tonne in June.
Revenue from chicken exports totalled US$370.1 million in July, compared to the US$355.9 million in June.
The main markets for the month were Japan, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong and Russia.
Brazil is the world's No. 1 chicken exporter.
