Brazil's July soybean exports up 61 percent on-year

 

 

Brazilian soybean exports for July jumped to 4.38 million tonnes, registering a 61 percent year-on-year increase. Average daily volume leapt to 208,400 compared with 109,600 tonnes in June, the Foreign Trade Ministry reported Tuesday (Aug 1).

 

Volume was also considerably greater than the 2.3 million tonnes shipped abroad in June.

 

Figures are for 21 working days in July.

 

July export revenues vaulted as well to US$978 million, up from US$667.3 million in the year-ago period, and higher as well than the US$513.3 million registered in June.

 

Meanwhile, soymeal exports also jumped to nearly 1.67 million tonnes, up from the 1.39 million tonnes shipped abroad in Jul 2005, and nearly double the 846,300 tonnes registered in June. Daily export volume rose to 79,500 tonnes compared with 66,000 tonnes in the year-ago period, and also higher as well than the 40,300 tonnes seen in June.

 

Revenue from soymeal jumped as well to US$317.1 million in July, higher than the US$278.8 million seen in the same month in 2005, and higher as well than the US$159.4 million registered in June.

 

Soyoil exports dropped to 201,200 tonnes in July, compared with the 255,900 tonnes sent abroad a year ago, but higher than the 129,400 tonnes shipped in June.

 

Daily soyoil volume fell to 9,600 tonnes, compared with 12,200 tonnes shipped out last year, but up from the 6,200 tonnes sent abroad in June.

 

Revenue from July soyoil exports slipped to US$96.2 million, down from the US$115.7 million registered a year ago, but up from the US$62.3 million received in June, the Trade Ministry reported.

 

Soy is Brazil's top food commodity export in both volume and value.

 

Brazil is the world's second biggest soybean producer after the US.
