Australian Meat Production Jumps In Second-Quarter

Australian meat production during the second quarter of 2004 was at its highest level since the closing quarter of 2002, judging from the latest data available from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS).

Meat production in June totalled 264,974 metric tons (MT), bringing the quarterly total to 783,129 MT. This is the highest level since 790,316 MT was produced between October and December of 2002. Likewise in 2002, stronger beef output numbers were responsible for the above-normal meat output levels.
