Chinese grain firms buy 36.6 million tonnes new wheat
By July 20, the grain operators of China had bought 36.6 million tonnes of new wheat in major producing regions, the National Grain and Oil Trade Center said on Friday (July 27).
The state-owned firms bought 25.5 million tonnes of wheat, accounting for 70% of the total purchases.
The country's grain operators also purchased 426,000 tonnes of new early rice crops by then, with state companies' procurement taking up 66%.
The output of summer grain in China reached 129.95 million tonnes this year, up 3.56 million tonnes, or 2.8%, compared with last year's output. Summer grain crops mainly include wheat and early rice.
