Taiwan to halve import tariffs for wheat, corn, soybeans

Taiwan plans to halve its import tariffs on wheat, corn and soybeans for six months, as part of the government's measures to ease inflationary pressure, the Cabinet said in a statement Wednesday (Aug 1).

Premier Chang Chun-hsiung has asked the Ministry of Finance to work out the details of the tariff reduction, which covers seven grain products.

The government did not say when the tariff reduction would take effect.
