China's Mengniu is the world's fastest growing dairy company

China's Mengniu Group is the fastest growing dairy producer in the world. Its sales volume of liquid milk products is highest in the world.

Inner Mongolia-based Mengniu is also the biggest Chinese exporter of dairy products. Its products are exported to more than 10 countries including Singapore, the Philippines and Malaysia. The company also commands a 50 percent share of the market for UHT milk in Hong Kong and Macau.

To build up it brand, Mengniu has collaborated with Denmark's Arla Foods and France's top yoghourt producer, Danone. It has also tied up with Disney and NBA in promotional campaigns to boost its brand name.

Mengniu has aggressive plans for the near future. By 2011, the company aims to make it into the list of top 20 dairy companies in the world. It is also targeting to increase the contribution of export earnings to 10 percent of total revenue.

On July 22, Mengniu opened its research and development centre in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia's capital city. In the partnership with 11 dairy organizations, including equipment suppliers and academic research institutes, the Mengniu facility will undertake research and development of international stature.
