Pakistan lifts ban on live cattle imports
On Jul 4 the Government of Pakistan approved a proposal lifting the ban on the import of live cattle from countries with negligible risk of BSE as declared by the OIE.
This means that United States live cattle can now be exported to Pakistan once all technical procedures are completed including: a formal notification by the Government of Pakistan in its Official Gazette which is expected later this month; an establishment of a health protocol. The protocol is expected to be completed in time to allow import of US dairy cattle this autumn.
