Thailand to request Australia on removing boiled chicken, duck ban

In an attempt to have certain restrictions on boiled duck and chicken from Thailand lifted, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand is set to negotiate with Australia.

After a meeting with the Committee for International Agriculture Policy regarding the restrictions on Thailand's farm products imposed by Australia by means of SSG measures, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives Supratra Thanaseniwat revealed that Thailand will try to convince the Down Under to review its bans on boiled chicken and duck since both products have now met the Australian food standards.

In return, Supatra said, Australia will ask Thailand to consider removing Mandarin oranges, grapes, cheese, butter, and animal internal organs from its list of banned items from Australia. However, the Ministry will have to discuss their request with the private sector first before making a decision.
